Kazungula Town Council has taken another major step toward improving public infrastructure and enhancing the overall market experience for traders and consumers at the Kazungula Border Market. Following the construction of the new market shelter; a project valued at over K900,000 sponsored by the Zambia Devolution Support Programme (ZDSP).
The newly built market shelter has already begun transforming the face of Kazungula. With its modern design and wheelchair-accessible ramps, the structure reflects the district’s commitment to inclusive development and a cleaner, more organized trading environment. This uplift not only enhances the visual appeal of the border area but also strengthens its position as a vibrant commercial hub that serves both local residents and travelers in transit.
As commercial activity continues to grow, the demand for reliable and accessible public amenities has increased. With plans to expand and rehabilitate the toilet facility at the market, we expected significant improvement to convenience, hygiene, and comfort for marketeers, clients, and members of the public. Ensuring that sanitation facilities can accommodate the needs of all users, including persons with disabilities is a central part of the Council’s plan to create a market space that is both welcoming and functional.
