Kazungula Town Council Monitors CDF-Funded Roof Rehabilitation at Katapazi Primary School
Kazungula Town Council has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering quality and lasting development projects to the community through a monitoring visit to Katapazi Primary School, where rehabilitation works are currently underway using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
The monitoring exercise followed the official handover of the site to a contractor two weeks ago. The school suffered extensive damage in November last year when strong winds blew off the roofs of some classroom blocks, disrupting the learning environment for pupils and teachers.
The Council team that conducted the inspection comprised the Director of Engineering Services Fortune Chileshe, the Internal Auditor Gladys Mulenga, the Public Relations Officer Lwando Kabundi, and the Senior Labour Officer Nancy Kwalombota. The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress of the works so far and to ensure that the rehabilitation is being carried out in line with approved specifications and required construction standards.
During the visit, the team inspected the quality of materials being used, the workmanship on site, and adherence to safety and labour standards. The Council emphasized that such monitoring exercises are critical in safeguarding public resources and ensuring that projects funded through CDF deliver real and lasting value to the community.
Kazungula Town Council noted that it takes keen interest in all developmental projects under its jurisdiction to ensure that they are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest possible standards. The Council further stressed that quality infrastructure in schools is a key pillar in creating a conducive learning environment that motivates learners and supports effective teaching.
The rehabilitation of Katapazi Primary School is part of the Government’s broader commitment to improving education standards across the country by investing in sound and resilient infrastructure. Through the effective utilisation of CDF, the Government aims to ensure that schools are safe, functional, and able to withstand adverse weather conditions.
The Council assured the community that it will continue to conduct regular inspections and monitoring visits until the project is completed, as part of its mandate to promote transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.
