Kazungula is the largest district in Zambia’s Southern Province, covering 16,835 km². It wraps around Livingstone and borders Botswana, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.
The district lies between 25°0′–26°25′E and 16°5′–18°0′S, at elevations ranging between 850–1,150m.
The Kazungula Bridge, opened in 2021, is a 923m landmark transforming trade and mobility in Southern Africa.
Kazungula is home to 161,645 people, with 81% under age 35. It is culturally rich, with Toka-Leya, Tonga, Nkoya, and Lozi communities.
Kazungula lies on a vital wildlife corridor. Sandy and clay-loamy soils support Mukwa, Mungongo, Miombo, Mopane forests and more.
